Why We Love It: Finally….a mac n’ cheese that is both gluten-free and vegan (not to mention also soy-free)! We tasted Daiya’s latest addition to their family of dairy-free cheese-based products and we LOVED it. The Alfredo flavor in particular was super creamy and even appealed to some of our colleagues with no dietary restrictions whatsoever. However, melted dairy cheese is hard to replicate in texture and flavor, so don’t expect it to taste just like “normal” mac n’ cheese, but for being free from so many ingredients, it’s pretty damn good. And with 48g of carbs, it’s definitely not a health food, but it is a delicious way to indulge for those with dietary restrictions!

Meet the Makers: Founded just 6 years ago in Vancouver, Canada, Daiya has quickly risen to arguably become the leader (and in our minds the best-tasting) non-dairy cheese out there, although there are more and more contenders entering the market of vegan cheeses. We’ve loved their shredded cheese for ages, and now we’re excited for their new packaged foods offerings, including this cheezy mac and their new cheesecake.  www.us.daiyafoods.com

Fun Fact: Contrary to popular belief (or maybe just how we were doing it), Daiya’s name is pronounced “day-ah”, not “dye-ah”.
