Jennifer Wang, Founder
Jennifer loves good food. But years ago, she started experiencing persistent “digestive discomfort” and exhaustion after every meal that would last for days. After exploring numerous alternatives with GI specialists, nutritionists and allergists, she found that by eliminating gluten and dairy (and strangely also onions and almonds), her symptoms improved drastically, but the problem was finding ‘free-from’ foods that did not taste like cardboard.
Having lived in New York, London and Los Angeles, she searched the globe for foods that fit her diet, but found that most “treats” that claimed to be healthy and tasty were really just processed forms of sugar in disguise. Fast-forward a few (or a lot of) years and the Tasteful Pantry is born. Jennifer and the Tasteful Pantry’s mission now is to share their love of wholesome food and their knowledge of the ‘free-from’ market with as many friends as possible so that specialty diet hassles become a thing of the past!
Lea Basch, MS, RD, Nutritionist
Lea is a Registered Dietitian and has been in the nutrition industry for over 30 years, most of which she spent at Longmont United Hospital in Boulder, Colorado, where she was one of the founders of the facility’s nutrition program. Longmont’s Planetree philosophy of caring for the body, mind and spirit of patients is very much in line with Lea’s interest in both traditional and alternative therapies for treating chronic illnesses. Gluten-intolerant herself, Lea now focuses much of her time on the latest research and issues relating to gluten-free diets and other food intolerances. She is a diabetes educator and is a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association. Lea’s lifelong passion has been combining the science of nutrition with the heart that it takes to change lifelong habits.
